The other band I was most excited to see during CMJ, The Very Best, unfortunately had to cancel their showcase and in-store appearance due to travel issues. I was ready to do some serious dancing with a throbbing concussion to their incredible, feel-good music. I find it impossible to listen to this band without being incredibly impressed by their African sound, and more importantly, without truly enjoying myself. I can’t wait until the next time I have the chance to actually see The Very Best live, because somehow, I think this is a group that’s even better live. Considering how much I love their recorded tracks, that’s a tough feat, but this is music that translates ridiculously well to on-stage energy and performance.
