XL’s newest signee, New York based singer-songwriter Holly Miranda, was another personal favorite from CMJ last week. Tonight, she’s backed by Nada Surf at the Bowery Ballroom (some throwback I can get behind).

While she’s been playing the New York scene for years, Miranda’s been plugged by Kanye West, who prominently streamed one of her tracks on his oft-publicized blog, and has been a blog darling even before her signing to XL.

I really like her sound — I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been looking for a really talented female vocalist for a while, or if the weather has been mellowing out my music taste, but I think Holly Miranda is incredibly, incredibly talented. I went to her CMJ showcase and thought she put on an excellent live show.
