But since I am a Duke alum and love plugging Duke artists AND I also love really absurd news, and this falls into both of those categories, I feel overcome with necessity to mention that your favorite Duke basketball player and mine, Mr. JJ Redick, will be releasing a rap album.

No, I’m not joking. JJ and his yet to be named “rap supergroup” have already named their upcoming album Waste Management. Seriously. I’m curious to see who makes the cut for this “supergroup,” - I’m placing a bet on former teammate Shavlik Randolph to make an appearance. I mean, he was the only Duke basketball player I saw spitting some rhymes at the annual ATO Rapper’s Delight freestyle rap battle. (simmer with those thoughts for a bit: a Duke fraternity throwing a freestyle rap battle party. My favorite party of the year).
